Welcome to our FIBA WC 2019 Prediction Project. From August 31st until September 15th, 2019 we covered all the 92 games during the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China.
The main deliverable of this project was an interactive Report (check the bottom of this page), in which the user was able to to see the analysis of all the available matches in the tournament. The analysis included:
– The Team Profiles of the two opposing teams, as well as their strengths and weaknesses.
– The Statathlon-own Predictions for specific match statistics that determine the outcome of the match and the projected winner. In order to forecast and calculate the winning probabilities our predicting algorithms simulated each match 100.000 times each.
To conclude this scientific approach of the Tournament, we prepared and present you below the Project’s overall Report, in which you may find:
– The comparison between Statathlon’s Performance Rankings and the teams’ actual classification during the tournament.
– The calculation steps of our teams’ performance rankings, and specific information about the the metrics we use and the teams that excelled in each one of them.
